A Slice of P.I.E. Helps ESL Students
The Tower has an article on P.I.E., a program to help ESL Students at Kean improve their English.
"Founded last October, Partners in English (P.I.E) is a program that will help shed some light for many ESL students. It is a product of Dr. Ruth P. Griffith, ESL Program Director, and graduate student Agnes Markowitz's idea for a 'conversation partnership program' between native English speakers and non native English speakers who were education majors."
Karla Davila
Karla Davila, who is from Ecuador, won a $1500 higher education scholarship from NJTESOL/NJBE on May 20, 2008.
Francisco Guerrero
Francisco Guerrero just graduated cum laude with a Bachelor's of Arts in Spanish with Teacher Certification (K-12). He's a member of several honor societies—Lambda Alpha Sigma, Alpha Sigma Lambda, and Sigma Delta Phi—and served in the last one as Vice-President. Although he graduated, he's not leaving Kean yet. In the fall semester, he will continue studying, working on a Master's degree.
Rosmery Peña
Rosmery Peña, who is from the Dominican Republic, has been nominated for Who's Who Among American Colleges and University 2008. In addition, she is a member of the Lambda Alpha Sigma Honor Society and Epsilon Epsilon Omega Honor Society, and has received scholarships from the Cardinal Health Foundation, the New Jersey Association of Public Accountants, and EEO, the last one covering her fees for taking the Kaplan GMAT review course.
Nelson Alvarez
Nelson Alvarez, a Kean student from Cuba, presented "Fragments of Landscapes," an exhibition of his art, at the Dryfoos Gallery in the Nancy Thompson Library, January 8 - 30, 2008.

Nitza M. Gallardo Rodriguez, a student at Kean University from Puerto Rico, won a higher education scholarship from NJTESOL/NJBE on May 21, 2007.
Elizabeth Torres
Elizabeth Torres, a Kean University student from Colombia, was a winner in the 2006 American Eagle Outfitter's Live Your Life contest and also appeared on the CNN live video show Young People Who Rock August 17, 2007. Check out her website to see her continuing achievements.
