Ryan Suleski, Senior in the
Computer Science Program
receives award in the
Computational Science Student Award Program
at Supercomputing ’08 in Austin, Texas

Dr. Robert M. Panoff,
Executive Director of the Shodar Educational Foundation in Durham,
North Carolina with Ryan Suleski (CS ’10)
of Kean University, receiving the Panoff Award in Computational Science
Research at Supercomputing ’08 in Austin, Texas in November.
Ryan M. Suleski,
a Computer Science junior from South Plainfield, NJ was recognized for
his outstanding undergraduate research by the Dr. Robert M. Panoff Computational
Science Student Award Program. Ryan was nominated for his work on the
implementation and application design of a wireless network for environmental
sensing. Work on this project began as part of Kean University’s
Students Partnering with Faculty (SpF) Program during summer 2008 and
has continued. With his faculty mentor, Dr. Patricia Morreale from the
Department of Computer Science, and three other student researchers, Jhon
Espin (CS ’09) and Justin Czarnik (CS ’09), and Nick Doell(CS
'09), Ryan established a wireless sensor network which gathered data in
a relational database for visual presentation and review. The database
can be searched using user-specified criteria. Ryan received the award
from Dr. Panoff during SC ’08, an annual conference on supercomputing
sponsored by the IEEE Computer Society, which was held this year in Austin,
Texas.
The
WiNS: Wireless Integrated Network Sensors Project is part of the
NetLab in the Department of Computer
Science at Kean Univeristy.

The WiNS Group
also receives our congratulations as they have had a paper accepted
for publication. To have an Undergraduate Research
Publication is a quite an accomplishment!
Congratulations !!

The Panoff Award and the upcoming publication of a research paper
by the
four (4) undergraduate students has been made possible in part
by the
Students Partnering with Faculty (SpF) Research Award Program at Kean
University during Summer '08. The SpF award created the research
opportunity and encouraged the accomplishments of our students.
