The College of Natural, Applied and Health Sciences is a participant in the National Science Foundation Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (NSF LSAMP) program. LSAMP is s learning community to increase success and opportunities in non-medical Science, Mathematics, Engineering and Technology. LSAMP was designed to greatly increase the number of professionals in STEM fields from minority groups who are traditionally underrepresented. The idea is to provide support services at many levels to help interested students be successful in STEM majors. The Garden State alliance(GS-LSAMP) includes nine schools in central and northern New Jersey that work together to achieve these goals.

Participants must be undergraduate students, U.S. citizen or permanent resident s(green card holder), pursing a non-medical science major. Majors include: mathematics, computer science, biology, chemistry, physics, earth science, meteorology and geology, sustainability science, or similar (see their website at http://www.kean.edu/~lsamp for additional information)
