Old WebCT 4.1 has been decommissioned.
Using the course management system, you can offer your entire course virtually (click here to learn more about fully online course offering procedures), or you can use the features of the course management systems to host your course partially. For example, instructors can offer exams, quizzes, assignments, syllabus in conjunction with their class room environment.
WebCT 4.1 system will no longer host courses, but instructors can still login to the system to export courses, look at old materials etc.
WebCT 4.1 system will be completely shutdown at the end of year 2009.
Blackboard Campus Edition 8 (WebCT CE8)
Blackboard CE8 system is now Kean's latest and production course delivery system for distance learning education. Besides the regular features, the new CE8 system offers the following:
Single Sign On Login
All users (course instructors and students) will now log in to the CE8 system using their KEANGoogle email ID and password. This means if a user changes his/her email password, they have to use the new password to get in to CE8.
Support on Single Sign On Login
The CE8 system uses KEANGoogle email and passwod and if a user can not login to CE8 system, it means the KEANGoogle email credential used is incorrect and the user must call OCIS Helpdesk Hotline at 908-737-6000 for an email password reset.

System Intgegration Service
CE8 is now fully integrated with the registration system. All courses/sections and enrollments/de-enrollments are handled through the automated integration process. All CE8 users will have access to the system based on their role (student/instructor) and enrollment on registration system and should mimic/replicate the status on the registration system within 24 hours.

Course Content Assignment and Transfer
In CE8, instructors can assign/transfer course content to a course/blank course from their other courses that are hosted in CE8. Only the course content are assignable - all student related works are removed during the process.

There is a self paced online training course available for instructors and all instructors are highly encouraged to use the self paced online course pack to learn the system. Please send an email to webct@kean.edu to request access for the self paced course.

Getting Started for Online Education
Minimum System Requirements
OS: Windows 2000/XP/Vista, Mac OSX 10.2 and above
RAM: 256 MB, Processor: 2.0 GHz, Free Space on HDD: 500 MB
Internet Connection: (Broadband preferred), Dial Up
Browser: Internet Explorer 6 or 7, Mozilla Firefox 2.0, Safari 1.0
Java: JRE 1.4.0 up to JRE1.6
Step 1: Prepare your computer
Check your browser version and use the certified/tested browsers only.

Step 2: Install Java (Windows)
Print/Save/Write this instructions before proceeding any further
1. Close any open browser window. Go to Control Panel>Add Remove Programs and remove all Java instances (any program containing the following words: Java, J2SE... J2RE...JRE...)
2. Click here to download the required version of java for CE 8 system
3. Run the program, reboot your system if asked for
4. Go to Control Panel > Java to launch the Java Control Panel. Click on Update tab, uncheck the box for "Check for updates automatically", click Apply, OK.

For MAC OS X users
Mac 10.4 and above users may need to install the latest version of Java for mac. Click here to download Java for Mac OS 10.4 +. OS 10.3 already comes with correct version of Java.
Step 3: Login to your course
All users (Instructor and Students) will use their Kean University KEANGoogle E-mail credentials to log in. User Name is your KEANGoogle E-mail ID and Password is your KEANGoogle E-mail Password. If you do not know your KEANGoogle E-mail credentials, please call 908-737-6000 or stop by at CSS-113 for support.
