In a beautiful city located in the southern part of Ecuador, where I am from, I learned many things; there I grew up as a person and student. There I got a lot of knowledge.
Two of the things that I learned were how to read and how to write. Since I was a child, I always have written papers with short poems or stories about my family and friends. Then when I went to High School I started to read most of the time, because in High School, when I was in 10th grade, my literature teacher gave me something to read every week, and also in class every week we had to discuss the book. Besides that, I had to do an essay summary about what I read at home.
In 10th grade, my literature class was very difficult because I didn’t only have to read a book, but I also had to create poems. That part was the hardest one for me because I didn’t know how to write a poem. I’m not a romantic person. I am more an adventurous person. So I am not the kind of person that can write poems. I like to read poems because I enjoy them, but I don’t like to write them because I don’t have the inspiration for that.
In 11th grade, my knowledge as a reader and writer improved because that year I learned a lot of things. I’ve learned that I have an intellectual devotion which I didn’t know. For example, I discovered that I really like to read novels and books about mythology, history and philosophy. I also discovered my passion for writing fantasy stories, stories that talk about imaginative things, characters from another world, from a world where everything is possible and people from different galaxies.
I also discovered that I like to write in journals. In my journal I write everything that happens in my life, good and bad. In that journal I write my emotions, my feelings, my opinions, my problems and even my dreams, which are about my life and my expectations for the future as a person, daughter, sister and professional.
Finally, the only thing that I can say about myself is that I like to read and write. Both of them enrich my knowledge and I enjoy them. When I am reading something, I have peace, tranquility, comfort, and relaxation that make feel that I am living the author’s story. In reality I try to understand what the authors want to say through the book. What I mean is that reading makes me think, so when I am writing something, I express my emotions and feelings through what I am writing about. I put every part of myself in it. That is the moment when my ideas and imagination begin to fly!
