The Man in a Box

Mildred Mendoza

ENG 1430

I found a man. During late winter, I found him on a cold afternoon in a box. The box was seemingly closed. I was the one who opened the box. I was the one to lower myself into the silence. I was the one who held his hands; and, actually, his presence makes me feel quite safe. I had seen him once in town. When I saw him, I was sixteen. This man was the one who opened my heart. He took my hands, and we started to dance on the box. Also he sang for me all night, and I was melting in his arms. While we were dancing, the box started to multiply and suddenly there were twelve boxes. Each box represents a month in the year. I got a man that is good as a diamond. Probably, this man was hiding in the box waiting for someone like me. However, I was the one who found him during the winter. Now, I am enjoying each moment of his life. This man is my life. He knows that I appreciate him a lot. Therefore, I carry him in my heart.
