Alumni Honor Scholarships are awarded to undergraduate students on the basis of their academic excellence, leadership and contribution to extracurricular activities.
PATRICIA INGRAM CAMPBELL ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP
Amount: $250.00
Established in memory of alumna Patricia Ingram Campbell ''71 by her husband, alumnus John W. Campbell ''75 MA, this scholarship is awarded to an education major who has exhibited academic excellence.
GRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP
Amount: To be determined
This scholarship is awarded to a Kean graduate who is currently matriculating in a graduate program at Kean and has exhibited academic excellence.
CLAIRE GOLDSTEIN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Amount: $500.00
Criteria: Academic excellence, leadership and contribution to extracurricular activities.
COUNCIL FOR PART-TIME STUDENTS SCHOLARSHIPS
Amount: Cost of Tuition
Five scholarships will be offered to eligible candidates, covering the cost of tuition and fees. This amount will not exceed eleven (11) credits per semester for one academic year. (Fall and Spring semesters)
Criteria: Cumulative average of 3.0 or higher. Financial need. Students must be part-time, matriculated, undergraduates, registered for at least six but no more than eleven credit hours and must have completed at least 30 credit hours at Kean University. The recipients must have not received any other type of grant or scholarship.

Additional Criteria: Students must be currently enrolled as a Fine Arts Major.
DANIEL J. GALLO MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Additional Criteria: Students must have one dependent.

HELEN LONGACRE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Two scholarships will be awarded to candidates exhibiting good scholarship and financial need. Students must be an Elementary Education major and registered for either full or part-time (6-11 credits). Students must be planning to teach school on the elementary level.
JOHN EDWARD HAFFLY SCHOLARSHIP
Amount: To be determined
One scholarship will be awarded to the candidate who exhibits good scholarship as well as shows leadership in the field of mental retardation. Candidate must be senior with a major in Special Education with a concentration in the area of Mental retardation. Selections are made by a faculty committee.
DR. NICKIE B. BERSON SPECIAL EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP FUND
Amount: To be determined
A junior or senior student with a GPA of at least 2.50 will be awarded this scholarship. The student must be enrolled as an undergraduate full time in Special Education. Preference will be given to Caribbean born students (other internationally born students would be eligible if no Caribbean born students meet the criteria). THE SCHOOL OF LIBERAL ARTS
THELMA R. NEWMAN ART AWARD
Amount: $100.00
One scholarship will be awarded to the candidate who performs with academic excellent. The applicant must exhibit merit in art work portfolio, success in teaching of art and potential as an art educator. Senior in the major of Art Education. The student does not apply for this scholarship, selection is made by the Fine Arts Department.
EDWARD PAUL CERES MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Amount: $100.00
One scholarship will be awarded to the music major whose specialty is classical music. The student must be in good academic standing.
THE ADELAIDE ANNAMARIA KORNAU SCHOLARSHIPS IN THEATRE
Amount: $500.00
Two scholarships in the amount of $500.00 each will be awarded to undergraduate theatre applicants. Candidates must demonstrate financial need and high academic standing. Students must also demonstrate conviction to pursuing a career in theatre. To apply, contact the Chairperson in the Department of Communications and Theatre, VE409.
THE JOSEPH A. AND MARTHA B. KRAUSS SCHOLARSHIPS IN JOURNALISM
Amount: $500.00
Two scholarships in the amount of $500.00 each will be awarded to undergraduates enrolled in the Broadcast Journalism track within the Department of Communication and Theatre. Students must have demonstrated financial need and high academic standing. Students must also demonstrate conviction in pursuing a career in broadcast journalism. SCHOOL OF NATURAL SCIENCES, NURSING & MATHEMATICS
JOANNE HURLEY FLORENTINO SCHOLARSHIP
Amount: To be determined
Candidates for this scholarship must satisfy all the following criteria: Adult women, age of 40 years or more, with demonstrated financial need. Preference is given to Occupational Therapy students; if no suitable candidates apply, consideration may be given to students in the health professions or social work. For application and information, contact Adult Advisory Services, which will select the recipient.
GUY V. BRUCE SCHOLARSHIP
Amount: $750.00
One scholarship will be awarded to the candidate who exhibits involvement in the area of environmental issues. The recipient will be chosen by a committee of science faulty members. Students do not apply for this scholarship.
LAMBDA ALPHA SIGMA SCHOLARSHIP
Amount: $300.00
Three scholarships in the amount of $300.00 each will be awarded to candidates who perform and exhibit academic excellence. Financial need is a secondary consideration. The applicants must be matriculating in a major within the School of Business, Government and Technology, School of Liberal Arts or the School of Natural Sciences, Nursing and Mathematics.
DR. JOSE A. LOPEZ SCHOLARSHIP
Amount: Cost of tuition
Two scholarships which cover the cost of tuition will be awarded to full-time students of Hispanic descent. The candidates must demonstrate financial need and have a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Students must be currently enrolled in the physical sciences, preferably Pre-Med Biology. Students must complete the application form in this booklet and include a personal essay.
FRANK J. BULFIN MEMORIAL O.T. SCHOLARSHIP
Amount: To be determined
This scholarship will be awarded to Senior Occupational Therapy student(s), preparing for clinical fieldwork. The candidate(s) must have a GPA of 3.2, have demonstrated financial need and be self supporting. For additional information and application, contact the Occupational Therapy Department.
GENERAL SCHOLARSHIPS
CATHERINE A. BLEWITT MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Amount: $200.00
One scholarship will be awarded to a candidate who is a graduate of Newark school system or is a current resident of Newark. The candidate must be a junior and involved in the areas of either Early Childhood or General Education curriculum.
KEAN FEDERATION OF TEACHERS SCHOLARSHIPS
Amounts: $1500.00, $1200.00, $ 600.00
Seven scholarships will be awarded to students who meet the criteria established by the Kean Federation of teachers Scholarship Committee. Selections are based solely on academic achievement and excellence in writing. Applicants must submit a complete essay on the topic established by the Scholarship Committee.
A. One scholarship in the amount of $1500.00 will be awarded to a graduate student who meets the prescribed criteria established by the Scholarship Committee.
B. Scholarships in the amount of $1200.00 will be awarded to students from each of the following four categories:
Full-time freshman/sophomore/junior/senior
C. Scholarships in the amount of $600.00 will be awarded to students in the following two categories:
Part-time freshman or sophomore
Part-time junior or senior
The deadline for application consideration is November 19, 1999 for the spring semester. Candidates may obtain applications from the Office of University Scholarship Programs or the NCATE Office, Willis Hall - Room 104.
BELL ATLANTIC ACADEMIC MERIT SCHOLARSHIP
Amount: $1000.00
Two scholarships in the amount of $1000.00 each will be awarded to candidates who demonstrate good academic standing and financial need. Candidates must be New Jersey residents. These scholarships are available to Freshman, Sophomore and Junior applicants.
DR. JOHN O'MEARA MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Amount: $300.00
One scholarship will be awarded to the candidate who demonstrates humanitarian qualities in his or her accomplishments. Applicants must be seniors and currently enrolled as a full or part time student.
PRESIDENTIAL TRUST FUND SCHOLARSHIP
Amounts: $ 250.00, $1000.00
One scholarship in the amount of $250.00 as well as three scholarships in the amount of $1000.00 are available to candidates applying for the Presidential Trust Fund. Students may be either full or part time and have at least 29 credit hours accumulated with a GPA of 2.5 or higher. Candidates must have begun his or her college education at Kean University, demonstrated financial need and is currently enrolled in a B.A. major. At least one award will be designated for a part-time student.
M. ERNST TOWNSEND AWARD
Amount: $500.00
One scholarship will be awarded to the candidate who exhibits academic excellence. The student must be a sophomore and have completed a total of 29 -55 credit hours at Kean University. Students do not apply for this scholarship. Selection is made by the Honor Scholarship Committee.
STEVEN J. WEISS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Amount: $400.00
One scholarship will be awarded for academic excellence. This scholarship is available to Freshman, Sophomore and Junior applicants.
ARTHUR GOLDBERGER SCHOLARSHIP IN TECHNOLOGY EDUCATION/
INDUSTRIAL ARTS
Amount: $300.00
One scholarship will be awarded to encourage excellence in teaching in Technology Education/Industrial Arts. Eligibility requirements: Applicants must.........
-be full time and matriculated Technology Education/Industrial Arts major.
-be a junior.
-have completed a minimum of 15 credits in professional education, or the academic major of Technology Education/Industrial Arts at Kean University.
-have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
-attach most recent Kean University transcripts to application form.

DR. JOHN J. KINSELLA MEMORIAL GRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP
Amount: $1000.00
This scholarship was established in memory of Dr. John J. Kinsella, former Professor of Mathematics at Kean University. This scholarship is awarded to a student who is pursuing a graduate degree in Mathematics Education. Eligibility requirements: Applicant must......
-have completed one year of graduate work in Mathematics Education.
-have good academic scholarship.
-have earned at least 33% but less than 51% of the credits required for the Masters Degree in Mathematics Education.
-be a legal resident of the State of New Jersey.
