ANNUAL BRIDGEWAY EXHIBITION

May 16 - 31, 2011

Opening Reception: May 17, 2011 from 4:00 - 6:30 PM

Bridgeway’s Fine Arts Instruction Program, supported by a Union County Arts Grant, creates opportunities for discovering artists who wish to explore artistic abilities as well as advanced artists who wish to increase creative talents.  Works presented here are just some of the results of this important project.  Art provides individuals the means to connect with personal experiences.  Art furnishes people a voice to communicate these experiences to others.  Art allows people to explore, to search, to feel, to heal.

The instruction program opens opportunities to all people and enlightens the community that artistic endeavors can be pursued by anyone.  It facilitates the discovery of artistic pursuits as a professional or recreational life choice and provides an avenue to connect with feelings too difficult to share in other manners.  Artistic expression opens new possibilities that make many differences in our lives.

Studio sessions taught by a professional artist help participants gain understanding of the benefits of becoming involved in the arts and in community arts activities including school and career opportunities.  Through this project Bridgeway has formed a partnership with Kean University, which generously allows the artists the chance to showcase their works publicly in their gallery space.

Bridgeway is grateful for the following support:
The New Jersey State Council on the Arts, Department of State, a partner agency of the National Endowment of the Arts, The Union County Office of Cultural and Heritage Affairs, Kean University, Kevin Garvey who instructs classes and prepares the exhibition, and Joseph Smith who designs and produces exhibition graphics.
