QUILT ART:

INTERNATIONAL EXPRESSIONS

Located in the CAS Building

Karl and Helen Burger Gallery
January 30 - May 10, 2013

For the first time in the United States, International Arts & Artists introduces the work of Quilt Art, a unique group of 22 contemporary quilt artists from nine countries whose work ranges from traditional quilting techniques to modern methods of photo transfer and improvisation. Quilt Art features over 35 quilts that include landscape scenes, still lifes, geometric constructions and abstract juxtapositions of color and form. While each member brings a distinctive approach to the medium, a reflection of their home countries' culture, geography and design traditions can also be discovered in the work. This group has established a unique reputation at the forefront of contemporary textile art by maintaining the integrity of expression and quality craftsmanship.
