CONFERENCES
Throughout the year, the Gateway Institute conducts a series of conferences, symposiums, summits, meetings, and discussion, where guest lecturers are invited to discuss and share information that have wide ranging impact on everyday life. These convocations bring together a community of professionals, academia, government officials and the general public to share common interest and explore new ideas. The purpose of these gatherings is the exchange of information, disseminate of information in a timely manner, and the development of long-term goals. The value of these seminars will be measured in the type of research that is spurned, the ideas that are developed and introduction of technical innovations that are being utilized in all avenues of life. The following is a highlight of some of our conferences:
- In 1998, the Gateway Institute hosted a Deregulation Conference. The Utility Deregulation and Municipal Aggregation Conference sought to address utilities deregulation in New Jersey and what impact it would have for consumers. Experts were invited to discuss the various options available to residents in terms of maximization of savings on utility costs and promotion of savings. At length, the one day conference stressed the fact that deregulation creates opportunities and consumer options.
- In 2002, the Institute and the College of Education will be hosting an Educational Conference on Standards and Assessments for Middle School students. Due to revamped New Jersey testing program, the need for such a conference would prove very beneficial to not only parents, students, and educators, but also the entire education community in New Jersey. The conference will feature educators, business leaders, and experts who will address statewide assessment reform.
