13th ANNUAL CREOLE FESTIVAL |
| Ever since our foundation in early 1989, the Haitian Student
Association (HSA) of Kean University has been serving its purpose by
honoring and embracing our Haitian Culture with pride. We take it of
great
consideration here on this campus when it comes to revealing and
sharing
the richness of Haiti's mosaic cultural aspects with our own Haitian and
other students. That's why every
year
for the past 12 years the Haitian Student Association has been cherishing
and exposing our cultural root deepest secrets through our "Annual
Creole
Festivals. This special event allows us to physically share the
Haitian
culture through skits, poems, dances, fashion, food, music, arts,
talents,
comedy and more. This new millennium marks our 13th year in existence here at Kean University. And we are proud to announce that this year HSA members will continue the dream and legacy that the founding fathers started. And we shall do so by hosting the organization's 13th Annual Creole Festival on Kean University's ground. This year's Creole Festival has been booked for Saturday March 24, 2001. The theme for this event is "A time for a change" which we're hopping to reflect the changes in our homeland's infrastructure and social life in general. The place will be in Down's Hall Kean University. The show will start at 7pm sharp to 2am. The price is $8 with Kean id; and $10 with other valid ids. Only two ticket per valid id will be available. We'll have Kean Dance Troupes and Montclair University HSA Dancers and "Ti Ayiti" performing a total of four different type of dances ranging from kompa to zouk and folklore. We'll also have the popular group of young and talented Haitian ladies "Sonje" and Jean Claude Jean performing live. Further more we'll have skits, poems, and other form of Haitian talents performed by HSA members. The MTV karaoke Award Winning group "Entrigue" of Kean University will electrify our diverse crowd with their latest choreography. The famous Apollo/BET/MTV Haitian Comedian "France" will keep the crowd laughing for 30 minutes. A 10 minutes slide show of Haiti's most beautiful spots will be viewed. The show will also consist of a 30 minutes fashion featuring Kean's finest young Haitian men and women wearing the latest Haitian designs. A handful of successful Haitian figures will be present. There will be interactions with the crowd through our Haitian trivia game and free give a ways. Certainly there will be free food catered from New Jersey's finest Haitian restaurants. Last but not least New Jersey's finest Djs WISE Guys will literally keep the crowd on the dance floor until sunrise with kompa..kompa..Uh! Uh! Finally as my final thought to the supportive Haitian Community, our main goal is the same as every Haitian cultural organizations out there. We cherish our roots and expose it to the Kean University community and nearby communities as well. Keep that dream alive. |
