Dr. Sylvio G. Codella (webpage)
Associate Professor
Department of Biological Sciences

PhD in Entomology, University of Wisconsin-Madison

Interests: Dr. Codella is an evolutionary ecologist and entomologist who studies the behavior and biodiversity of forest Hymenoptera. He has published extensively on herbivore defense strategies and is currently interested in changes in community structure and species interactions brought on by urbanization. He teaches Zoology and Animal Behavior. Codella is active as manuscript reviewer for notable ecological and entomological journals and was recently named a Topic Editor in Animal Behavior for the Encyclopedia of Earth web project.

Dr. Daniela A. Shebitz
Assistant Professor
Department of Biological Sciences

Ph.D. in Ecosystem Science, University of Washington, Seattle

Interests: Dr. Shebitz is a plant ecologist whose research interests involve plant ecology, restoration and conservation ecology, ethnobotany. She has focused on working with indigenous groups to restore culturally-important plants that have declined due to development, unsustainable harvesting, succession, and the absence of traditional ecological management. Her current research focuses on the impacts of urbanization on plant diversity.

Prof. Mara Cohen (webpage)
Assistant Professor
Department of Occupational Theraphy

ABD in Occupational Therapy, New York University

Interests: Dr. Cohen's research interests include Pediatric occupational therapy; Efficacy of occupational therapy interventions for children with autism spectrum disorders (ASDs ); Transition between early intervention services and preschool special education; Development of hand function assessment for pediatric populations.

Dr. Paul Croft
Assistant Professor
Department of Geology and Meteorology

Ph.D, Rutgers University

Interests: Croft¡¯s focus is on the emerging program of undergraduate student research and professional development. The involvement of student majors in research activities and projects for their professional development and the outreach efforts to K-12 students, the New Jersey Earth Science Teachers Association, and other programs are major components. He is presently the Director of the Center for Earth System Science, Chair of the Academic Standards Committee, and Co-Chair of the Tenure Track Faculty Network. Croft¡¯s research work has included severe weather, fog, snowfall, air quality, thunderstorm initiation and other topics. Dr. Croft has also served as President of the National Weather Association and is a member of both the Strategic Planning and Education Committees and has previously served on the Broadcast Committee. Croft is also a Member of the American Meteorological Society, has served as Chair of the Board on Continuing Education, and the AMS Board on Higher Education.

Dr. John Dobosiewicz (webpage)
Assistant Professor
Department of Geology and Meteorology

Ph.D, Rutgers University

Interests: Dr. Dobosiewicz is a geographer and hydrologist whose research interests are in hydrology, climatology, and geographic information systems (GIS).

Dr. Frederick Lee (webpage)
Assistant Professor
Department of Chemistry and Physics

Ph. D. in Chemistry (computational chemistry)

Interests: Dr. Lee's research interests are structure-function relationships of proteins and computer-aided protein design. Dr. Lee applies computational tools to study structure-function relationship of biological molecules.

Dr. Matthew Mongelli
Ph.D.
Department of Chemistry and Physics

Dr. Patricia A. Morreale (webpage)
Assistant Professor
Department of Computer Science

Ph.D. in Computer Science, Illinois Institute of Technology

Interests: Dr. Morreale's research interests are network services and applications. Her expertise is in network management and design, including wireless networks and remote monitoring; design of real-time systems for fault-detection and isolation; metropolitan area networks (MANs).

Dr. Feng Qi (webpage)
Assistant Professor
Department of Geology and Meteorology

Ph.D. in Geography, University of Wisconsin-Madison

Interests: Dr. Qi's areas of research interest are geographic information systems (GIS), geographic knowledge discovery (spatial data mining), and geo-visualization. These three components are integrated in her research in environmental modeling. Her current research projects involve urban air quality modeling and visualization, and analysis of landuse change in response to urbanization.

Dr. Farshad Tamari (webpage)
Assistant Professor
Department of Biological Sciences

Ph.D.

Interests: Dr. Tamari is a geneticist whose interests are in Molecular Genetics, Botany, and Evolutionary Biology. He studies the molecular genetics and evolutionary biology of a mating system called distyly and its associated self-incompatibility in the angiosperm family Linaceae, some members of which are commercially valuable.

Dr. Brian Teasdale
Assistant Professor
Department of Biological Sciences

Ph.D.

Interests: Dr. Teasdale's research interests include algal systematics and seaweed biogeography, including the evolution of group-I introns found in certain red algal (Rhodophyta) species. He is also currently involved in collaborative work studying the taxonomy of the morphologically variable brittle star Ophioderma sp. found in the Bahamas.

Dr. Dale Vitale (webpage)
Department of Chemistry and Physics

Ph.D.

Interests: Dr. Vitale's research interests include preparation, properties and applications of chiral room temperature ionic liquids, thermal resolution of biaryl atropisomeric racemates, modeling/computational prediction of rotational energy barriers and molecular crystals, and computers and information technology in higher education.

Dr. Xiaobo Yu (webpage)
Professor
Department of Biological Sciences

Ph.D. in Biology, Yale University

Interests: Dr. Yu studies the morphology, phylogeny and evolution of early bony fish (osteichthyans) and early sarcopterygian fish (lungfish and crossopterygians). He is also interested in systematics, comparative anatomy, and evolutionary patterns and processes.
