Faculty and Foundations

Ultimately, our faculty and supporters make possible our exciting courses, timely public events, research forums, and vigorous student activities. We are very much indebted to them all.

Gifts and Foundation Grants

A number of earmarked institutional grants continue to make possible many fine Jewish Studies programs at Kean University and in the community in the current, 2009-10 academic year. The following Kean University organizations are supporting the

12th Annual Jewish Studies Lecture/Artists Series:

• Department of History • Jewish Faculty and Staff Association
• Faculty Seminar on Comparative Cultures • M.A. Program in Holocaust and Genocide Studies
• Holocaust Resource Center • Office of the Dean of the College of Humanities and
• Human Rights Institute    Social Sciences
• Jewish Culture Club • Office of the President

The New Jersey Jewish News and the American-Israel Cultural Foundation are also sources of support and we are grateful to them as well as to all our institutional supporters for their considerable help toward furthering Jewish Studies programming at Kean University, in central New Jersey, and in the New York City metropolitan area.

Jewish Studies Program Recognized with “Quality” Award

Kean University granted the Jewish Studies Program its “Quality First Initiative” award for a second consecutive year. The prize recognizes the strengths of the program’s acclaimed annual lecture/artist series. The award this year, which is shared by the Department of History, is one of the most generous offered and will significantly support the 2009 conference, “Historical Perspectives & Public Policy: How Old Rules Fare in a New World Order.” The Jewish Studies Program has been successful in recent years in competing for grants and awards. Among the regional awards received recently in support of the lecture/artists series are a Jewish Federation of Central New Jersey Continuity Award and a Union County Heart Grant. The Jewish Studies Program relies on regional and university grants to achieve a high standard of excellence for its public programming and to continue attracting a consistently large and increasingly devoted following.
