PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The Post-Master’s Option in Licensed Professional Counseling is intended for counselors who hold a previous master’s degree and wish to become a “Licensed Professional Counselor” (LPC) in New Jersey. The New Jersey Licensure Law requires a total of 60 graduate credits including 45 credits in specified competency areas. The Program Coordinator will evaluate each applicant’s competencies
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
In addition to the University’s admission requirements:
- Master’s Degree in Counseling
- Departmental interview
PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS
- 12 credits
- Three years successful experience in school student personnel/school counseling work
PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS
- Additional graduate credit in specified areas of competencies
REQUIRED COURSES - 12 credits
- CED 5987 Advanced Internship: Individual Counseling 3 credits
- CED 5988 Advanced Internship: Group Counseling 3 credits
- CED 5989 Practicum in Counselor Supervision 3 credits
- CED 5993 Ethical, Legal and Professional Standards Seminar and/or 3 credits
- CED 5915 Multicultural Counseling 3 credits
TOTAL of 12 - 15 Credits to complete program
