PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The Graduate Certification Program, Teaching English as a Second Language, is designed to prepare teachers for endorsement as teachers of English as a Second Language, grades K-12, and adults. Students who do not possess an initial teaching certificate should contact the Program Coordinator or the Office of Graduate Admissions.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
In addition to the University’s admission requirements:
- New Jersey Instructional Certificate
- A cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.75 from all colleges attended
- Departmental interview may be required
- Writing sample of approximately one hour to be done at interview
New Jersey Instructional
- One course (3 credits) in a foreign language at the undergraduate or graduate level
- Passing score on appropriate test of oral and written English proficiency.
