Program Description:

Information technologies have become an essential component of today’s business operation and are one important driving force of increased globalization. The MBA program in the Information Management is designed to prepare a new generation of technology savvy business leaders, which modern businesses have a thirst for. The MBA-IM program targets two categories of prospective students: 1) business professionals/students with strong interest in information technologies, 2) IT professionals/students who want to improve their business knowledge and want to advance their career with an MBA degree relevant to their profession. The program emphasizes developing a mix of solid business skills and technology analysis skills. It is designed to give students important managerial and technological knowledge to succeed in new global economy on IT-enabled platform. Students in this new option program will plan their careers in managerial positions requiring a mix of solid business skills and technology analysis/implementation skills.

Admission Requirements:

In addition to the University's admission requirements:

  • Minimum GPA of 3.00. Lower GPA may be considered based on experience.
  • GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) scores.
  • Three letters of recommendation from relevant sources.
  • Personal essay explaining candidate’s interest in MBA-IM program.
  • Departmental interview may be required.

Students holding degrees in disciplines other than management or business are encouraged to apply with the understanding they may be required to successfully complete the undergraduate prerequisites before becoming fully matriculated in the Global MBA program.

Undergraduate Prerequisites:  Business Statistics, Management Information Systems, Calculus for Business or Calculus I-II, Public Speaking or Business and Technical Presentation.  (Students must have received a B or better.)

Program Requirements:

 

  • Between 42-60 credits depending on an applicant’s undergraduate and graduate course work

 

  • Second language proficiency (exit requirement-verified by examination)

CAPSTONE COURSE—3 CREDITS

PMBA 5900  Global Business Simulation—This is an integrative course required of all students in their final semester.  The course is based on a global business stimulation game involving pharmaceutical companies  The students work in groups and integrate all the knowledge they acquired by making decisions in a stimulated global environment in all functional areas of a global pharma company.  The students might compete in a global business game with participants from all over the globe.

GMBA 5910 Independent Study with Faculty* —In this course, the student will work with faculty member on an information systems project such as building e-community for Kean University. This project will be a hands-on project which requires the student to apply the concepts and skills learned in other MIS concentration course in this independent study project. This project will also be venue for the student to work with the faculties on frontline information systems research topic.

*GMBA5910 is open only to MIS concentration students who can choose to PMBA5900 or GMBA5910.
