General Application Requirements

Foreign Education Credential Evaluation

If you have completed any part of or all of your post-high school education outside the United States, you must have your foreign educational credentials evaluated by a credential evaluation service that is a current member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES). The results of their evaluation must be sent to the Graduate Admissions office by the published deadline for your program. Evaluations prepared by any person, organization, or entity that is not a current member of NACES will not be accepted. There are no exceptions to this policy.

A current list of NACES members may be found at: http://www.naces.org/members.htm

Standardized Tests

Determine your preferred program and arrange to take the appropriate test, if required. Note the following codes: Graduate Record Exam (GRE), Miller Analogy Test (MAT), Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT), PRAXIS. Test results must be received by this office directly from the testing agency no later than the published deadline. Please note that it generally takes six weeks from the date of the test administration for the results to be received in this office. Most Programs do not require a test for those applicants holding a masters degree or higher. Refer to the individual degree requirements by college below.

Transcripts

New Students:

You must submit two official copies from each college or university in which you have enrolled for any period of time showing all courses, grades and degrees received, if any.

For example, if you took courses at Union County College and Essex County College, and then transferred to Montclair State University where you received your Baccalaureate degree, you must submit official transcripts from all three institutions. Please request that the colleges send the transcripts directly to you in their own sealed envelopes or they may send the transcripts directly to us. Be sure not to open these envelopes as this will cause the transcripts to become unofficial and will delay your application process.

Current or Former Kean Graduate Students:

Transcripts need not be submitted if you attended a graduate program within the past five years.

Current or Former Kean Undergraduate Students:

Kean transcripts need not be submitted. All other transcripts for coursework completed at

other institutions must be submitted, including those for credits transferred to Kean and including transcripts previously submitted.

Departmental Interviews

You will be notified if you are required to schedule a departmental interview. It is your responsibility to arrange for the interview with the graduate coordinator who will have a copy of all your records. Upon receipt of the interview results, you will be informed by letter of the admission decision by the Office of Graduate Admissions.
