The Master of Science program in Exercise Science is designed to prepare students to work as professionals in corporations, wellness centers, hospitals, sports medicines centers, amateur and professional athletics, health clubs, resorts and spas, community associations such as the YMCA and YWCA, colleges, universities, school districts, and rehabilitation centers. More specifically, the program will provide students with the knowledge and skills to enable them to function as exercise specialists, technicians, strength coaches, and personal and athletic trainers. Finally, the program will provide the opportunity for individuals who are currently employed in these professional areas to enhance their ability to advance to such positions as coordinators and/or directors and head athletic trainers. The program offers two concentrations: Exercise Physiology and Athletic Training.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
In addition to the University's admission requirements:
- · A cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 from all colleges attended (lower GPA may be accepted with appropriate experience)
- · GRE (Graduate Record Exam) scores
- · Departmental interview
- · Two letters of reference
UNDERGRADUATE PREREQUISITES: A minimum grade point average of 3.0 in:
- PED 3510 Exercise Physiology (all students)
- PED 2520 Introduction to Athletic Training (students electing the Athletic Training Concentration)
