PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The Master of Arts in Mathematics Education, Computer Applications Option is designed to meet the needs of individuals in industrial, business or educational careers who want to upgrade their competence in computing.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
In addition to the University's admission requirements:
- Undergraduate major or strong minor in mathematical science
- Computer background in: Assembly language, data structures, and either business-oriented programming or another high-level language.
- GRE (Graduate Record Examination - General Test) scores
- Two letters of recommendation
- Departmental interview may be required
PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS
- 33 credits including a six credit thesis
- Comprehensive examination

- Math 5700 Current issues in Mathematics Education 3
- MIS 5004 Introduction to Business Programming 3
and
MIS 5104 Programming with Data Structures and Algorithms 3
or
CPS 5911 Computer Structures and Programming I 3
AND
CPS 5912 Computer Structures and Programming II 3
MATHEMATICAL SPECIALIZATION 15 credits
Five courses selected with advisement from: Foundations, Algebra, Geometry, Analysis, Applications, Probability & Statistics, History, and Computer Science courses.
GENERAL ELECTIVES 3 credits
One course selected with advisement
RESEARCH 6 credits
