Date: Tuesday, February 1, 2005

Attendees:  Sudip Ghosh, Shelley Hollingsworth, Faith Jackson,
Annie Ji, Lisa Jones, Ann MacVicar, Valerie Wozniak

The meeting commenced at 12:30 p.m.

Treasurer Report

Lisa Jones distributed the Treasurer Report, which showed the last few fundraising activities and the amount of money raised.

Breakfast with a Loved One

It was decided that the annual Breakfast With a Loved One will take place on Monday, February 14 from 8 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the Child Care Center. There is no cost. Parents are invited to eat breakfast with their children on this morning.

Bake Sales

Two bake sales will be held during the week of February 21. After some discussion, all agreed that an evening bake sale would be most profitable. Days are to be determined. Tables will be set up either in the New Academic Building Lobby or Willlis Lobby from 4:30 pm. to 7:45 p.m. on the days selected.

Next Steps

  • Lisa Jones will speak with Tara Higgins of the Council for Part-Time students to determine which days of the week have the most students.

  • Faith Jackson to start a menu list for parents to bring food and refreshments. We will ask that anyone who cannot bring food make a $5 donation.

  • Faith Jackson to start a time sign-up sheet for volunteers to work the table when days are determined.

Other Fundraising activities

The group decided to do a mail-order flower sale for mother's day. It will begin on Monday, March 14 and end on Friday, April 1. All parents will be asked to take a catalog and solicit buyers. Either a pizza sale or a cookie dough sale may also take place before that, depending upon storage requirements.

Next Steps

  • Lisa Jones to obtain more information about pizza sale and cookie dough sale to see if it is viable. Also, she will get more details on the flower sale.

Reunion

Valerie Wozniak presented the recent work she and the graduate assistant had made with regard to a KUCCC reunion. They had selected several places, but were still gathering prices, and will also obtain catering costs from Gourmet Dining. The date selected for the event, a Sunday brunch, is April 17. It will also serve as a farewell party for Ann MacVicar, who retires May 1. It was agreed that the restaurant/catering service which gives the lowest cost would be selected.

Next Steps

  • Valerie to select a restaurant and discuss invitations and other details at next meeting.

Tsunami Effort

Lisa Jones suggested that CCFK affiliate itself with an organization to do a toy drive and/or clothing drive. It was agreed that CCFK will have all members of the Kean community to donate items.

Next Steps

  • Lisa Jones to obtain information about potential organizations from the Office of Community and Disability services and other sources.

Yearbook Project

Ms. Laura has volunteered to create a school yearbook to sell to KUCCC parents. All agreed that it was a good idea.

Next Steps

  • Faith Jackson to find out if she can get the actual printing of 50 yearbooks donated by the Office of University Relations.

Next Meeting

The next meeting will be _________________. Items on the Agenda will include suggestions for spring field trips, updates on the reunion and fundraising.
