Welcome to the Kean University Library. The Library's primary mission is to support the academic programs of the University. Therefore, the Library strives to meet the information needs of Kean students, faculty and staff by providing a broad range of resources and services. Although the Nancy Thompson Library is located on the Union campus, many resources and services are available to Kean-Ocean students through Kean's virtual library. The Library's web page is the gateway to the virtual library.
Information geared to Kean-Ocean students follows below. The menu to the left links back to Library pages.
Your Library Barcode is your "key" to the services and collections provided by Kean University Library. The Library Barcode is a 14 digit number that is placed on the back of your Kean Photo ID card. You will get your Library Barcode along with your Kean photo ID. Your Library Barcode will enable you to access Kean University Library's research databases, to request books from the Nancy Thompson Library, and to use other library services such as online reference assistance and interlibrary loan.
Select the Books, E-Books, Videos & More link, also located on the menu to the left, to search for books held by the Nancy Thompson Library, located on the Union campus. You may request to borrow books located in the Main Collection of the Nancy Thompson Library. You may also limit your search results to particular types of records (such as Main Collection books, Electronic Resource e-books, or U.S. Government Online Document) by selecting an option from the Limit Your Search menu. To request a book from the Thompson Library please complete the Kean-Ocean Book and Article Request Form and submit online. You will need the barcode number from your Kean University photo ID to complete the form. You will receive email notification when the book has been shipped. Your Kean ID is required for pick up at the Ocean County College Library Circulation Desk. Please return books to this desk as well.

Kean University Library is developing a collection of electronic books, or e-books. This link will take you to available e-book collections, which can be searched or browsed. After making a selection you will be prompted to enter your Library Barcode to access the collection.
Please note that records for e-books are included in both of the online catalogs listed above under the Locating Print Books heading. Kean-Ocean students have access to those titles listed in the Kean Catalog. You may also limit your Kean Catalog search results to e-books by selecting the option Electronic Resources from the Limit Your Search menu. Access to titles in the Ebook Library (EBL) collection requires your Library Barcode. Please feel free to Ask a Librarian for further clarification.
U.S. Government online documents are also available through the Kean Catalog. You may limit your search results to online documents by selecting the option U.S. Government Online Document from the Limit Your Search menu. For help searching see the Thousands of United States Government Online Documents @ Your Library brochure. These documents are freely available.
