Welcome to the Kean University Library. The Library's primary mission is to support the academic programs of the University. Therefore, the Library strives to meet the information needs of Kean students, faculty and staff by providing a broad range of resources and services. Although the Nancy Thompson Library is located on the Union campus, many resources and services are available to Kean University RN-BSN/Graduate Nursing Students at the Off-Site Raritan Valley Community College Campus through Kean's virtual library. The Library's web page is the gateway to the virtual library.
Information geared to off-site R.V.C.C. campus nursing students follows below. The menu to the left links back to Library pages.
Your Library Barcode is your "key" to the services and collections provided by the Kean University Library. A 14-digit number that is placed on the back of your Kean Photo ID card, your Library Barcode will enable you to access Kean University Library's research databases, to check out books from the Nancy Thompson Library, and to use other library services such as online reference assistance and interlibrary loan. Get your Kean photo ID and Library Barcode at the Union campus.
Kean University RN-BSN/Graduate Nursing Students currently enrolled at the Off-Site Raritan Valley Community College Campus are able to obtain a barcode number, without coming to the Union campus to get a Kean Photo ID, by contacting Chrisler Pitts by email at firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone at 908-737-4613.
This assigned barcode will enable you to access Kean University Library's research databases, use online reference assistance, and request journal articles by interlibrary loan. If at some point you visit the Nancy Thompson Library located on the Union campus and want to check out books or request books by interlibrary loan you will need to have a Kean Photo ID card with an attached Library Barcode. Please contact Chrisler Pitts by email at email@example.com or by phone at 908-737-4613 to set up a time to bring your valid Kean Photo ID to the Nancy Thompson Library to get your previously assigned physical barcode.
Kean University Library is developing a collection of electronic books, or e-books. This link will take you to available e-book collections which can be searched or browsed. After making a selection you will be prompted to enter your Library barcode to access the collection.
Please note that records for e-books are included in the Kean Catalog. You may limit your search results to e-books by selecting the option Electronic Resources from the Limit Your Search menu. Access to titles in the Ebook Library collection requires your library barcode. Please feel free to Ask a Librarian for assistance.
U.S. Government online documents are available through the Kean Catalog. You may limit your search results to online documents by selecting the option U.S. Government Online Document from the Limit Your Search menu. For help searching see the brochure, Thousands of United States Government Online Documents @ Your Library. These documents are freely available.

The link Medicine, Nursing and Allied Health lists databases in these subject areas. After selecting a database you will be prompted to enter your Library barcode.
