Library 2.0 @ Kean University
The Kean University Library has created an online presence in each of the following Web 2.0 applications. By exploring these new social networks and online environments, the Library hopes to keep in touch with our friends in the University community. If you happen to have an account with any of these online communities, feel free to add to the Kean University Library to your list of friends or contacts. For those of you who may be looking for new ways to communicate with your University library, (and even have a little fun with it) we invite you to check out the following online applications:
The popular new internet community. Facebook allows you to communicate with friends and classmates in an easy-to-use online interface. From your Facebook home page, you are able to add games, quotes, photos and many other interesting applications. Your Facebook networks will also enable you to keep in touch with other Kean University students, as well as friends, co-workers, and even teachers. Now you can add the Kean University Library to your Facebook network by joining the Library’s “fans” group.
The Nancy Thompson Library at Kean University now has a new 'blog through Wordpress. Look here for updates, notices and fun facts about the library. Comments are welcome, but they will be screened before being added to the post. Kean University students, faculty, staff and alumni should feel free to add this 'blog to their RSS feeds (see the rss icon in the location bar) to be informed of exciting library news and events.

Many of you use instant messaging programs to keep in touch with friends, family and acquaintances. Now you can contact a live reference librarian as well! By using any of the following Instant Message programs, you can simply text your question to a librarian at Kean, who will respond to your query as soon as possible. The “micro-blogging” tool that asks you the question: “What are you doing right now?” in 140 characters or less. Many people use Twitter to track friends, celebrities, and even fictional characters! Add Keanlibrary to your list of Twitter friends to keep up to date with Library news and events!
Foursquare is a mobile application that allows you to “check-in” to various real-world locations and earn badges based on your number of visits. Check in to the Kean University Library from your mobile device and leave tips for your fellow Kean students.
