Study Plan

  1. How do I declare my major?
  1. Fill out the form (available in the Management Department) and have it signed by the Chair if you have a 2.3 GPA and after you have taken at least 4 of the following courses:

ECO 1020, ECO 1021, MGS 2030, MGS 2110, MGS 2120, ACCT 2200, MKT 3410

  1. What is the capstone?  What do I do about MGS 4050?
  1. Please note that MGS 4110 Business Simulation and MGS 4050 Strategic Mgmt will no longer be offered.  Students who are missing the capstone should register for MGS 4999 Integrative Business Strategy.  In the event that you already have MGS 4110 you can still use MGS 4999 as an elective.
    Management Concentration majors were required to take MGS 4050 but we have relaxed that requirement, if you are taking MGS 4999 as the capstone. In that case you can use any MGS elective instead of MGS 4050.  If  you have taken MGS 4110 as your capstone, you should use MGS 4999 as a substitute for MGS 4050.

  1. Can I use an ID (Interdisciplinary) class in place of a GE course?
  1. Yes, provided it is listed in the “Approved GE Distribution Courses” section found in the bulletin.  For example, ID 1400 can be used as a GE Science & Math course.  This is only for students entering after 2002.

  1. Can I use Span I or another foreign language course for the humanities requirement?
  1. Only if you take an additional semester as well.  Only the International Business Option has a language requirement.

Graduation

  1. What is the deadline for applying for May graduation?  Where can I get the form?
  1. Deadline is October.  The One-Stop Center has the forms.

  1. Where do I get the graduation packet?
  1. The registrar mails out the package either in January or May once you have 85 credits.  If you have more than 85 credits and have not received the package, please contact the One Stop.

  1. What are the minimum grades for graduation?
  1. Must have a 2.0 GPA.  Grades of D or better are required for GE and elective courses except Composition where you need a C or better.  Grades of C or better are required for business courses.

Transfer

  1. How many credits can I transfer?
  1. You can transfer a maximum of 96 credits and no more than 21 credits in the major.

Special Issues

  1.  Can I major in 2 Business disciplines?
  1.  No.  You cannot get a double major in Business nor can you minor in a second business disciple.

  1. How do I get a Management Minor?
  1. There is a form in the department that you can use as your guide sheet.  It will have to be signed by the Chair before you graduate.

  1. How do Life Experience credits work? 
  1. First you speak to Continuing Education and collect a form.  Then you need to document your life experiences and bring the form and report to your advisor, who will determine if they are equivalent to Management courses.  We will accept a maximum of 6 credits for life experience.

  1. If I repeat a class how do I raise my GPA?
  1. You will need to fill out a form called the Petition for Repeat Grade Recalculation and submit it to the Registrar.

  1. How do I audit a course?
  1. A student who wishes to audit a course registers in the usual way. Then comes to the Front Desk of the Office of the Registrar and signs a declaration of Audit form by February 9th, 2009 for the spring semester.
