Third IFCIS Conference on Cooperative Information Systems (CoopIS'98)
(In cooperation with VLDB'98) August 20 - 22, 1998
Marriott Marquis Hotel |
The CoopIS'98 Proceedings is currently available for purchase from the IEEE Computer Society Press. (Click to jump directly to the IEEE information/order page.) For your reference: The IEEE product number for the CoopIS'98 Proceedings is PR8380-QAJ. The price (as of Jan. '99) is $45 for IEEE members and $125 for non-members.
The paradigm for cooperative information systems (CISs) involves large numbers of information systems (ISs) distributed over large, complex computer/communication networks (e.g., Intranets, the Internet, the World Wide Web). Such ISs will manage or have access to large amounts of information and computing services and will need to cooperate with each other. They will support both individual and collaborative human work.
The Third IFCIS International Conference on Cooperative Information Systems (CoopIS'98) is the premier event in Cooperative Information Systems. It is sponsored by the International Foundation on Cooperative Information Systems (IFCIS), and replaces the erstwhile international workshops on Interoperability in Multidatabase Systems (IMS) and the conference series on Cooperative Information Systems (CoopIS & ICICIS).
Cooperative Information Systems - the area and the conference - brings together scientists and ideas from artificial intelligence, computer-supported cooperative work, database systems, distributed computing, and user interfaces.
The General Chairs, James Geller and Frederick H. Lochovsky, cordially invite you to participate in CoopIS'98, which is being held in New York City in cooperation with VLDB'98. A discount is being offered to those who register for both conferences.
Additional information about the conference can be found via the following links.
After the conference, a Special Issue of the International Journal of Intelligent and Cooperative Information Systems will be prepared, based on the best papers of the CoopIS'98 Conference Proceedings. The authors of those papers will be invited to submit extended versions for additional review and inclusion in the Special Issue.
