My Profession

I am a Network Analyst, currently working for Kean University, New Jersey's third largest public university. I am also the system administrator for WebCT/Blackboard systems, which are often referred as Distance Learning Systems.

I work for the Office of Computer and Information Services (OCIS) at Kean. We are the centalized IT system support center for the entire campus. We implement, maintain and manage the network and various IT systems and services for the university and it's community. Besides, OCIS handles all IT related end user support requests. Lots of work to do here and its fun!

My primary responsibility at Kean is to ensure the uninterrupted service and availability of network to the clients (faculty, staff and students), monitoring and maintaining the infrastructure of the network, fiber backbone and providing end user level support when needed. Besides all the technical part with servers and other equipments, gathering and analyzing data for new system implementation, project leads, briefing progress reports and representing the department in other departmental or campus-wide events are parts of my job. Disaster recovery, Data Backup, recruiting techs, training and holding meetings when needed for the trainees are also part of my responsibilities.

I am a state of New Jersey employee and a part of CWA, AFL-CIO Union.

Currently I am pursuing MS in computer science with research interest in mobile/adhoc computing and wireless networks in NJIT. I will write more about my research interest as i grow with the program.
