Timeline for Kean University
College of Education
 SPA Reports

 

·         Summer & Fall 2014

o        Review previously submitted SPA Reports and Reviewers’ Reports in AIMS    (Directions)

o        Review assessments currently being utilized by program  (Assessment & SPA Standard Info from Previous Cycle - by program)

o        Review current/new SPA standards  (Program Standards:  Choose SPA from drop down menu)

o        Review alignment of current assessments with new SPA standards

o        Decide which Option – A, B or C the program will use to submit program report.  (Elementary Education – UG, PB and MA and Social Studies are the only programs which can use Option C as their SPA standard have not changed since the last submission.)   (Explanation of Options)

o        Make contact with a representative of your SPA to discuss SPA reporting expectations, rubrics, requirements, etc.  (Program Standards:  Choose SPA from drop down menu.  Follow link to SPA website)

o        Revise current assessments including rubrics, if necessary, to align with new SPA standards/elements and reviewers’ report(s) suggestions  (Creating a behavioral rubric)

o        Design new assessments including rubrics, if necessary, to align with new SPA standards/elements and reviewers’ report(s) suggestions  (Creating a behavioral rubric)

o        Have revised/new assessments with rubrics ready for use for Spring 2015 semester.

o        Advise all necessary course instructors within program (undergraduate, graduate, Union Campus, Ocean Campus) on use/collection of data for revised/new assessments and rubrics.

§         Data must be disaggregated by student status – undergraduate, post-baccalaureate and/or graduate and by location – Union Campus and Ocean Campus

o        Syllabi for courses in which an assessment for your SPA report is utilized must include detailed information on that assessment, including scoring rubrics, as well as the SPA standards they address.   

 

·         Spring & Fall 2015

o        Conduct assessments and gather data  (Two semesters of data are mandatory for the report.)

§         Data must be disaggregated by student status – undergraduate, post-baccalaureate and/or graduate and by location – Union Campus and Ocean Campus

o        Faculty (tenured, non-tenured and adjunct) teaching required courses within program must update/add Faculty Information online in AIMS.  This also includes individuals supervising students in the field.  (Further information will be provided in Spring 2015.)

o        Review required information for SPA report and begin drafting responses.  

o        Begin drafting narratives for each assessment.  Create data tables of assessment results.

 

·         Spring 2016

o        January

§         Finish gathering data from Fall 2015 semester

§         Go online in AIMS and begin entering responses to SPA report

§         Complete assessment narratives and data charts and upload to AIMS

§         Follow up with program faculty to complete Faculty Information online

o        February

§         Finish and review online SPA report and assessment narratives

§         Confirm all faculty have submitted their information online

o        March

§         March 1, 2016:  All reports, assessment narratives, faculty information entered online and ready for Dean’s review

§         March 10, 2016:  SPA Reports submitted to CAEP.
