“Advising: The Center of Student Success”

Thursday, June 15, 2006

Keynote Speaker: Dr. Peter Hagen, The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey

On Thursday, June 15, 2006, Kean University will host the Fourteenth Annual New Jersey Advisors Conference. Advisors from New Jersey and surrounding areas are encouraged to attend. The theme, “Advising: The Center of Student Success”, focuses on developing an understanding of the importance and breadth of the many roles academic advisors play in the recruitment, retention and graduation of college students. This broad theme will allow for exploration of the many facets of advising.

This comprehensive conference is a wonderful opportunity to share best practices, learn from colleagues, network with other professionals, exchange ideas, and enhance advising knowledge and skills. It is designed to promote communication among academic advisors, faculty advisors, and advising administrators.

The conference will take place in Kean University’s state-of-the-art Center for Academic Success that houses smart classrooms equipped with Dell Optiplex GX280 Pentium IV computers, LCD projector screens for power point presentations, document cameras for projecting printouts, transparencies, books, and magazines, and DVD/ VHS/CD-ROM players.

We hope that many of you will consider submitting a proposal for a concurrent session, panel discussion, round table discussion, or poster presentation. If you have not yet presented at a regional or national conference sponsored by the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA), this is a great way to hone your presentation skills.
