    Message from Department Chair
    Dr. Minnie Campbell

This is an exciting but challenging time for Nursing. The national Nursing shortage has created an era of importance of nurses to the nation’s health. However, nurses practicing in today’s environment are challenged to cope with diminished resources, growing complexity in both patient care and the health care system, and increased demands from a diverse public for culturally congruent quality health care services.

Educational preparation at the baccalaureate and graduate levels provide nurses with knowledge and skills to meet the new challenges and find satisfaction in their chosen Nursing path. Kean University offers programs of excellence that lead to the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) and a dual Master of Science in Nursing and Masters in Public Administration (MSN/ MPA).  Students may also earn an MSN in School Nursing and receive a Department of Education license as a certified school nurse.  In addition, non-degree programs in School Nursing are available.

The Department of Nursing faculty is committed to providing you with advanced knowledge and skills in a climate of interactivity and support that considers the needs of adult learners, many of whom are also full time practitioners of Nursing.  Our educational climate of mutual respect provides the comfort needed to develop students as critical thinkers and innovators who can challenge the status quo and take the risk to raise new ideas and practices. The faculty members are scholars, researchers, and dedicated practitioners. They will help you to find your passion in Nursing as you expand your philosophy and vision of the autonomous role of the professional nurse.

I welcome your interest in Kean’s Nursing programs and encourage you to apply. Knowledge changes a person forever and together our knowledge will create the future of Nursing care, practice and scholarship.
