Master of Science in Nursing
MSN/MPA Nursing and Public Administration
with Community Health Nursing option
The MSN/MPA degree with an option in Community Health Nursing is
a dual degree program sponsored by the Department of Nursing and
the Department of Public Administration. A total of 57 credits are
required, 30 credits from nursing, 21 from public administration
and 6 credits electives.
This program targets the nurse executive and is designed
to blend clinical management, advanced community health nursing
practice and business theory within an interdisciplinary framework.
The transcultural focus of clinical management is strengthened by
the community context of practice and knowledge of public and business
aspects of management. It is an interdisciplinary and collaborative
approach to management that is operationalized through clinical
experiences in community health nursing.
Interdisciplinary focus
• Graduates have a unique combination of knowledge
and skills in clinical management, transcultural nursing, business
and public administration, and community health.
Research focus
• Design and implementation of research focused
in community health nursing
Clinical courses
• Students will be working with clinical preceptors
in community health nursing
Certification
• Eligibility for certification in Advanced Practice
in Community Nursing and Home Health Care.
• Eligibility for certification in Nursing Administration
and Transcultural Nursing.
