HOW TO APPLY

GENERAL INFORMATION

The application deadline is February 1st, 2008 for September 2008 admission. Acceptance into the program is only valid for the September immediately following acceptance.  We do not defer admissions to the following year.  The application process is typically completed and candidates are notified by the end of April.  Decisions regarding admission are final.  Please note that admission is becoming increasingly competitive.  We anticipate a large pool of qualified applicants for Fall 2008.

TOP TEN SUGGESTIONS

1. Attend an INFORMATION SESSION.

2. Include in your application packet your timeline for completing any requirements which have not yet been completed. Also include a list of the prerequisite courses you have completed, with the name of the college and the semester in which you completed each course. This is especially important if you have completed courses at more than one school.

3. If you do not yet have a bachelor’s degree, indicate anticipated graduation date.

4. Complete the required observation time by January/February.

5. If you are moving, changing your phone number, or changing your email address, notify the graduate office. If possible, submit the application after you have made the change. If you will be away or out of the country after you submit your application, indicate the dates you will be away.

6. Be sure your contact information is correct. Include your name, address and phone number on your essay and other pieces of paper.

7. If you have observed at several facilities, be sure to either staple the sheets or clip them together.

8. If you already have a degree, and are taking the prerequisite courses at Kean, apply to the undergraduate college as a second degree major. This will enable you to become a matriculated student, and you will have the ability to register earlier than if you are a non-matriculated student.

9. Request that your transcripts be sent to the graduate college as soon as you have completed your application.

10. Do not procrastinate. Waiting until February 1st to complete the online application may result in your application being late, as there can be computer problems.
