Where
in the World Is…
Keeping up with our students
-
Sarah Levin,
a graduate student in the occupational therapy program, is currently
completing a three month internship in Columbus, Georgia with the
United States Army. Sarah requested this unique fieldwork placement
to develop more understanding of the occupational therapist's role
within the US. Army Hospital.
As the first occupational therapy student from Kean University to
intern at Martin Army Community Hospital, Levin is gaining exposure
in the wide-ranging rehabilitation issues facing our soldiers. Under
the direction of five occupational therapy supervisors, she provides
treatment to soldiers after deployment who have experienced trauma
and/or injuries from war. Sarah described deep fulfillment in her
fieldwork placement as she said, “Working with the Army has shown
me that this is definitely the career path that I want to pursue."
After completion of this fieldwork and successful completion of the
NBCOT exam, Sarah has expressed an interest in pursuing her education
by applying into a clinical doctorate program. The faculty and students
take great pride in her accomplishments and are excited to watch her
career unfold in the upcoming years.
