BACHELOR OF ARTS IN RECREATION ADMINISTRATION

Recreation Administration graduates pursue careers as recreation professionals in the leisure-services industry, including parks, recreation, environmental conservation, travel and tourism, sports management and health and wellness promotion, or in therapeutic recreation working with people with disabilities to improve their overall health and wellness and quality of life. Graduates of the program have the skills and knowledge to respond to social and technological changes in the recreation and leisure profession, as well as the necessary leadership skills to supervise and administer quality recreation and leisure programs.


Students who graduate from this program are qualified to work in a variety of professional roles, such as recreation therapist, activities director, recreation director, and social director, superintendent of recreation and parks or hospitality facility managers. These positions are found in hospitals, long-term care, assisted-living and psychiatric facilities, treatment centers, adult day-care centers, municipal and county government agencies, nonprofit youth-serving organizations, theme parks, sports facilities, resorts and more.

 

 

Students may select an emphasis in one of option areas (concentrations) under the Bachelor of Arts in Recreation Administration:


Therapeutic Recreation/M.S. in Occupational Therapy


Community Recreation


Commercial Recreation

In addition, Recreation and Health Minors are available. These programs consist of 18 semester hours.
