Pat has been a member of the Computer Science Department since 2006. She is a US patent holder in database design and error detection. Since joining Kean, she has received funding from the National Science Foundation, and prior to coming to Kean, her research was funded by the NJ commission on Science and Technology and a number of other private and government agencies.

Her research contributions have been in the area of network design and management, and multimedia systems. She has been the co-editor of 3 books and has recently published research outcomes on undergraduate recruiting and retention in computer science. During the summers of 2008 and 2009, she was awarded Kean’s Students Partnering with Faculty awards for her undergraduate research teams. One of her students received Kean’s Best Undergraduate Researcher Award in March 2009.
