Welcome to the School of Psychology at Kean University, a department that trains leaders in the science and practice of psychology. The School of Psychology offers Undergraduate, Masters, and Doctoral coursework.
We offer Undergraduate course work in B.A. General Psychology, B.A. Psychology/M.S. in Occupational Therapy track, B.A. in Psychology/Doctor of Physical Therapy Track and Psychiatric Rehabilitation (BS). The B.A. in General Psychology is a comprehensive 124 semester hour program. It prepares students by developing and enhancing observation, research, analysis, and cognitive processing skills. The B.S. in Psychology and Psychiatric Rehabilitation is a 131-133 semester hour program. It is a joint program run in partnership with the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ). This program is unique within the state, and is the first of its kind available to students in New Jersey. The student who successfully completes this dual major will gain academic excellence in Psychology, and the skills necessary to provide both independent living skills and vocational rehabilitation for clients with mental illness.
The School of Psychology offers Masters Degree programs in Human Behavior and Organizational Psychology and Psychological Services. In addition, the School of Psychology also offers the professional degree program: The Professional Diploma in Marriage and Family Therapy.
Fieldwork placement, independent study, and the Honors Courses provide students with opportunities to work closely with faculty on projects that examine social, cultural, clinical, cognitive, neuropsychological, developmental, and educational influences on behavior.
To better guide psychology majors through their academic experience, we offer a faculty advisement support system. We sponsor two organizations for students studying psychology, The Psychology Club and Psi Chi, the National Honor Society of Psychology.
