Freshmen Meal Plans
HOW IT WORKS
Freshman residents living in Whiteman Hall, Dougall Hall, Bartlett Hall or the New Freshman Residence Hall will be assigned the default meal plan K-Unlimited Option 1 within 24 hours after room assignment.
Freshman meal plans consist of continuous unlimited dining in the new residence hall dining facilities. Designed to provide more than enough meals and food for the typical college student, these plans offer the most opportunities to treat you to any of the offerings provided with unlimited helpings. Eat as many times as you would like throughout the day. The various options provide additional Cougar Dollars for flexibility in the University Center Cafeteria and various eateries throughout campus.
In addition, each Freshmen Meal Plan includes 2 guest meals per month. So bring a friend and share a scrumptious meal before, between or after class. At the end of every month, any unused guest meals will be forfeited.

FLEX PLAN
For all other members of the Kean community, the University offers a Flex Plan that allows you the convenience of not having to carry cash for dining or purchases on campus. Spend your Flex dollars at any campus food service location, the Marketplace, the campus bookstore, and vending machines. It’s an easy and convenient system which allows you to deposit a dollar amount onto your Cougar ID card and use it as a debit card.
Unlike the meal plans, which are used on a week-by-week or semester basis, Flex dollars are valid throughout the academic year and can be purchased independently or to supplement the mandatory meal plan. Flex dollars are rolled over from semester-to-semester and any unused Flex dollars are reimbursed at the end of the spring semester.
A minimum of $50 is required to open a Flex plan and Flex dollars can be added to your account at any time.
Students receiving financial aid can use excess financial aid funds or student loans to purchase a Flex Plan. In the event the financial aid package is adjusted, students are responsible for any charges incurred on the Flex Plan.
Flex plan applications can be printed by selecting the appropriate student, faculty or staff menu on KeanWISE. The completed application should be mailed to the Office of Student Accounting with the appropriate payment or funding information. Applications can also be obtained at the Office of Student Accounting.
