The Physics program at Kean University has several related goals that are aligned with the University Mission. A minor program within the Chemistry and Physics Department is offered for those students wishing to undertake graduate study, especially in chemistry and engineering or seek employment as a high school science teacher upon graduation. Our courses allow students to engage in new and current technology and scientific advancement, and to demonstrate the important role of physics in other disciplines
The program strives to guide its students to think analytically, critically and creatively through qualitative and quantitative reasoning in our discipline-based courses. It is designed to provide a basic introduction to all the main topics of classical and modern physics and is reinforced with an integrated approach of classroom discussion, demonstration and laboratory. By the end of the program, students will have a firm understanding of basic physics principles as demonstrated through the channels of rigorous analysis and problem solving, hands-on experiments in laboratory, and scientifically accurate presentation.
