The Visual Communications program encourages each student to develop his or her creative potential, with an emphasis on personal expression, to explore various problem-solving approaches, to use innovative creative models, and to develop a substantive body of work culminating with an original portfolio.
The faculty are resolutely dedicated to excellence in teaching, developing innovative teaching methodologies, implementing cutting-edge curricula, academic and creative scholarship, and professional practice.
The Visual Communications program provides an undergraduate education in three areas of emphasis stressing critical thinking; creative thinking; awareness of all issues related to visual communication and its impact on the individual, society, the environment, and commerce; integrating new and emerging media and technology and a concern for social responsibility.
The program actively contributes to the university, and the broader community, through its BFA Degree programs, student work in the Design Studio, the research and innovative projects of the Design Center, and the creative output of students and faculty.
The primary goals of the Visual Communications curriculum at Kean University is to educate students to become creative thinkers and professional practitioners in three related areas of this discipline: graphic design, advertising design, and interactive design.
