PRAXIS II REQUIREMENT

Students in these programs must pass BOTH the Elementary Education: Content Knowledge Praxis II exam AND the content knowledge Praxis II exam for your academic content area.  BOTH score reports must be hand-delivered to the Teaching Performance Center in Willis 110 by November 1 in order to perform your internship in Spring 2012.

The New Jersey Department of Education has launched a new Web site -- http://njcccs.org
with the newly revised New Jersey Core
Curriculum Content Standards (NJCCCS).

Check it out!!!!!

The recent budget cuts by the State of New Jersey are having a great impact on school districts and their teaching staffs for this academic year 2011-2012.  In turn, field placements for teacher candidates will be affected.

Students who have applied for a field placement for the Fall 2011 semester can expect they may not hear about their placements until sometime during June or even as late as August.

We STRONGLY RECOMMEND that students who will be performing field work in the fall start the process now to obtain a New Jersey Substitute Teaching Certificate.  Then, in the event of a late placement assignment, students will be assured of meeting specific school district requirements.  Have questions:  See our FAQ about Substitute Teaching Certification.

All College of Education students at Kean University are strongly encouraged to apply for a substitute certificate in order to meet public school district requirements for field experience. Students should apply for a New Jersey Substitute Teaching Certificate
at their local board of education.
