Changes in the New =
Jersey
Administrative Code in 2004 have affected certain grade levels and licenses=
for
teacher certification, as well as the passing scores required for teacher
certification in the State of
In April 2004, the New Jersey Board of Education
approved new minimum passing scores on the Praxis II tests. (See page 8.) These new cut-off scores app=
ly to
anyone who is certified after September 2004. If a Praxis test was taken prior to
September 2004 and the score is below the new score and an application for
certification is submitted after September 2004, the Praxis II test must be
retaken and new passing score must be met.

Physical Education and Health K-12

changes, except for the new passing
Praxis Scores.
P-3 Early Childhood
Undergraduate students in the=
Early
Childhood Department who complete the program by May 2007 and take and pass the Praxis will receive dual
certification in P-3 and K-8.
Undergraduate students in the Early Childhood Department who complete
the program after=
May
2007 and take and pass the Praxis will be receive certificat=
ion
in P-3 and K-5.
Post-Baccalaureate and gradua=
te
students receive certification in P-3 only and are currently unaffected by =
any
changes in the N.J. Administrative Code.
K-8 Elementary Education and Bilingual Elementary
Education
Undergraduate, post-baccalaur=
eate
and graduate students who complete an elementary or bilingual elementary ed=
ucation
program by May 2007
and take and pass the Praxis will be certified K-8.
Undergraduate, post-baccalaur=

and graduate students who complete an elementary or bilingual elementary
education program
after May 2007 and take and pass the Praxis will be certified K-5
(elementary) OR K-5 (elementary) and 5-8 (mi=
ddle
school). The 5-8 Middle Schoo=
l certification requires that an individual be K-5 certi=
