ONLINE ASSESSMENT SUBMISSION

In Fall 2008, the College of Education is beginning the transition from paper (NCR) field experience assessment forms to the online submission of field experience and Teacher Work Sample Portfolio assessments.  The piloting of this program begins with the Introductory Field Experience Competency Assessments and the Level I TWS Portfolio.  The Preprofessional field experience competency and the TWS Level II assessments will be online beginning Fall 2009 and the professional internship and Level III TWS in Fall 2010.

The Video Analysis, and Requests for Professional Development Hours will be phased in over the next few semesters.

This transition from paper to online will provide a cleaner, smarter way to collect data in our quest to continue to improve the quality of our programs and our teacher candidates.  It will also allow us to be more fiscally and environmentally responsible.

ASSESSMENTS

The purpose of assessment is to help the preservice student become more effective and to provide a critical basis for self-evaluation and self-reflection.  The teacher candidate is urged to accept and use suggestions for improvement in a professional, intelligent manner and continually seek to improve his/her teaching through these evaluations.

It is suggested that course instructors/university supervisors/cooperating teachers meet with each student and discuss the student's performance before completing the following assessments.  An assessment worksheet should be used at this meeting and both the student and instructor should sign the bottom of the worksheet.
