Online Sexual Predators

Online child sexual exploitation is a serious problem.  Approximately 1 in 5 children is sexually solicited online (www.missingkids.com/adcouncil).  Predators may use the Internet’s e-mail and chat rooms as a way to contact children and send them sexual solicitations (www.missingkids.com/adcouncil).

National Center for Missing and Exploited Children runs a cyber tipline to handle leads from individuals reporting the sexual exploitation of children (http://www.missingkids.com/missingkids/servlet/PageServlet?LanguageCountry=en_US&PageId=169) and protecting children from online sexual predators (http://www.missingkids.com/adcouncil/).

Cyber Law Enforcement maintains an anonymous child pornography reporting form to report offenders.  It is submitted through a secure connection (www.wiredcops.org).

Wired Patrol is a resource for cyberstalking/harassment self-help strategies and encourages reporting incidents (www.wiredpatrol.org).

Cyber Tip Line, in collaboration with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, describes types of child sexual exploitation such as child pornography and child prostitution.  It also handles leads from individuals reporting the sexual exploitation of children.  Its bilingual teen site helps teens to surf safer on the Internet (http://www.cybertipline.com).
