Clinical Information
The following are the Kean University School of Nursing immunization, health clearance, criminal background, and drug test requirements. Please note that these requirements must be met prior to enrollment.
Kean University School of Nursing uses CastleBranch as the secure platform to collect all clinical clearance requirements including: immunization records, drug tests, and criminal background checks.
Our policy is based on the CDC recommendations and NJ state laws. It is meant to protect you, the patients, the community, and our faculty and staff. Completing the requirements can take time, so keep this in mind as you schedule your appointment with your health care provider and upload documents to Castle Branch.

- Tuberculin screening (steps I and II)
- Measles
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Varicella
- Hepatitis B
- VACCINATIONS
- Tdap
- Flu
- PROOF OF CURRENT NJ RN LICENSE
- CURRENT BASIC LIFE SUPPORT (BLS) CPR and AED CERTIFICATION FOR HEALTH CARE PROVIDERS FROM THE AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION
- PROOF OF PROFESSIONAL LIABILITY INSURANCE
- DRUG SCREENING
- BACKGROUND CHECK
UPON INITIAL COMPLETION OF THE ABOVE REQUIREMENTS, STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO SUBMIT THE FOLLOWING ITEMS ANNUALLY.
- Tuberculin screening (steps I and II) - Submission of Annual Health Clearance form required
- Proof of Flu vaccination - Submission of Annual Health Clearance form required
- CURRENT BASIC LIFE SUPPORT (BLS) CPR and AED CERTIFICATION FOR HEALTH CARE PROVIDERS FROM THE AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION
- Proof of professional liability insurance
- Drug test results
- Background check report
All required documents can be submitted to Castle Branch in one of three ways:
- Electronically - scan documents and upload them to the online portal (this is the fastest way to upload your documents)
- Faxed
- Mailed

May 1st - Graduate Certificate in School Nursing Only ( Students must identify three possible School Districts)
