School of Nursing Faculty Positions Fall 2019 *Revised*

Kean is seeking faculty to join the School of Nursing during an exciting period of expansion and transformation. New faculty will have the opportunity to make valuable contributions to the development of new programs, in addition to current RN-BSN and MSN programs and a Ph. D. in Nursing Educational Leadership. Kean offers Nursing at the main campus in Union, New Jersey as well as at additional locations in both Toms River, New Jersey and Raritan, New Jersey and a fully online RN-BSN program.
Faculty teaching assignments and related responsibilities may include day, evening, weekend and online courses. Participation in curriculum development, student advisement and service at the school, college, university and community level is also required. Interest or experience in using advanced instructional technologies to improve the teaching/learning process is highly desirable. Positions are effective for the fall 2019 semester. All positions are subject to availability of funds, due to financial exigencies.
Tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor (Full-time, 10 Months)
Tenure-track faculty positions are ten-month assignments at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. Tenure-track faculty are expected to demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence and an on-going program of basic, applied clinical or interdisciplinary research and publication or creative and performance activity with student involvement and will assume teaching and faculty related responsibilities across all undergraduate and graduate nursing programs, as well as academic and career advisement. Other duties include, but are not limited to: participation in curriculum development; assessment of student outcomes measurements; teaching Ph.D. research-related courses through dissertation supervision and completion; participation in student recruitment activities; and other initiatives. Tenure-track faculty may teach at multiple locations.
Qualifications: Doctorate degree in Nursing or a related field and current Registered Nurse license or full qualifications to obtain licensure in the State of New Jersey is required. ABD applicants currently enrolled in a Ph.D. program will be considered with degree completion date by September 1, 2020. A minimum of one year of academic teaching experience is preferred. Lecturer (Half-time or Full-time, 12 Months)
A Lecturer teaches and provides student and learning support services during the assigned period. The Lecturer holds a strong commitment to teaching; maintains office and advising hours for students; actively participates in the university community; and does related work as required. Lecturer positions are non-tenure track and may be renewed on an annual basis. Lecturers may teach at multiple locations.
Union Campus: To teach undergraduate and graduate nursing courses. Responsibilities span a full range of faculty activities including, but not limited to: participation in the Center for Nursing research and graduate research symposium; curriculum development; academic advisement; assessment of student outcomes measurements; participation in student recruitment activities; and other initiatives.
Ocean Campus: To teach undergraduate and graduate nursing courses; facilitate program coordination and advisement for the BSN and MSN programs at the Ocean location; and serve as liaison to disseminate intra-location/departmental communication at Kean Ocean. Responsibilities span a full range of faculty activities including, but not limited to: participation in the Center for Nursing research and graduate research symposium; curriculum development; academic advisement; assessment of student outcomes measurements; participation in student recruitment activities; and other initiatives.
Qualifications for Lecturer positions: Master’s degree in Nursing; a minimum of one year of teaching experience at the post-secondary level; and current Registered Nurse license or full qualifications to obtain licensure in the State of New Jersey is required. Clinical or professional Nursing experience as a licensed RN may be substituted for the one year of teaching experience as determined by the University. A Doctorate degree is preferred.
