Half-time, 10 Month Lecturer, School of Public Architecture Fall 2019

This is a ten-month, half-time position (17.5 hours weekly) effective for the fall 2019 semester. The Lecturer teaches 15 credits per academic year and provides student and learning support services during the assigned period. The Lecturer holds a strong commitment to teaching; maintains office and advising hours for students; actively participates in the university community; and does related work as required. This is a non-tenure track position that may be renewed on an annual basis. Teaching assignments and related responsibilities may include day, evening, weekend and online courses. Interest or experience in using advanced instructional technologies to improve the teaching/learning process is highly desirable. Courses may be taught at the Union campus, Kean Ocean, Kean Skylands or other locations. All lecturers may be required to teach General Education courses.
Michael Graves College
School of Public Architecture
History of Architecture and Design – to teach undergraduate and graduate studios, lecture courses and seminars about the history of Architecture, Design, Furniture and Art as components of the college’s five programs. Candidate will teach at the Union campus and non-teaching hours will be devoted to advising and providing other student academic support services. The ideal candidate will contribute to the formation of a new professional program; seek external funding; participate in innovative teaching and curriculum development; actively engage in professional organizations; work collaboratively and constructively with current faculty to advance pedagogy and deliver courses that inspire students; establish effective working relationships and contribute to team initiatives, particularly within the college; and develop and lead collaborative and experiential student learning activities. Master’s degree in Architecture or a related field and a minimum of one year of teaching experience at the post-secondary level is required. Equivalent professional experience may be considered as determined by the University.
