The Lecturer in the Office of Teacher Certification and Alternate Route is a full-time employee who provides student and learning support services and teaches in the College of Education over a twelve-month period, extending after graduation and continuing to the beginning of the school year. The Lecturer supports all candidates’ successful preparation for teacher certification; coordinates support for internal processes; participates in information sessions and orientations; maintains office and advising hours for students; co-teaches the fifty (50) hour pre-service workshop and monitors academic progress for Alternate Route candidates; assists the Director with preparing student retention reports; provides Student Academic Support (SAS) including advisement, retention, recruitment and other as needed and directed academic student support activities; actively participates in the university community; and does related work as required.
This is a non-tenure track position that may be renewed on an annual basis. Teaching assignments and related responsibilities may include day, evening, weekend and online courses. Interest or experience in using advanced instructional technologies to improve the teaching/learning process is highly desirable. This position is based at the Union campus but requires travel to off-campus locations. All Lecturers may be required to teach General Education courses.
Qualifications: Master’s degree in a related field and a minimum of one year of teaching experience at the post-secondary level or its equivalent experience as a public school teacher or administrator as determined by the university is required. Knowledge of processes and requirements for NJ State Teacher Certification; overall familiarity with P-12 school environments; and Bilingual in Spanish is preferred. Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential. Transportation is required for traveling to off campus locations.
