It's time for all of us to step up and do our part to protect our own health and the wellbeing of those around us by registering to receive a COVID-19 vaccine. Register now.
Your decision to get vaccinated positively impacts our entire campus community. As Kean cougars, we must unite to bring back our vibrant campus life for Fall 2021.
Welcome to the vaccine information site created for the Kean University community. Getting vaccinated is the best way to protect everyone. It's time to #VaxUpKean!
If you have not already done so, please fill out the University’s Vaccination Survey to assist the University with coordinating vaccination appointments.
To safeguard the health and safety of the Kean community, students attending in-person classes or accessing any University facilities in the Fall 2021 semester must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
Below are a few options to choose the best vaccination location for you.
On the Union Campus
The University is coordinating with the County of Union to arrange for vaccination appointments for students and employees, regardless of where they live, at the vaccination site in Downs Hall on the main campus. Appointments are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Register here.
Vaccination appointments are also available on the campus of Ocean County College. To register, visit https://www.ochd.org/.
All students, including Kean Online students and those requesting exemptions, are required to submit a COVID-19 Vaccine Form. You are strongly encouraged to submit your form as soon as possible. The deadline for submission is August 1.
To submit your vaccination record, log in to the Student Health Portal. New users will be prompted to create an account. The COVID-19 Vaccine Form can be found in the My Forms section of the portal. Choose from one of the following options:
- Submit Your Vaccination Record: Once you receive your second shot of the two-dose Pfizer or Moderna vaccine or your shot of the one-dose Johnson and Johnson/Janssen vaccine, you should submit your official vaccine record as soon as possible. You can scan or take a picture of your vaccine documents on your smartphone and follow the instructions for submission on the portal.
- Request a Kean Online Waiver: If you are a Kean Online student, you must submit the form to request a waiver for submitting vaccine documentation. You do not need to submit a vaccination record unless you plan to come to campus for any reason. Your status as a Kean Online student will be verified by the Office of the Registrar.
- Request a Medical or Religious Exemption: You must submit documentation from your healthcare provider detailing the reasons for your medical exemption based on CDC guidelines, or submit a signed statement explaining how the administration of immunizing agents conflicts with your bona fide religious beliefs. A general philosophical or moral objection is not sufficient for an exemption on religious grounds. As an unvaccinated individual, you may be subject to additional testing, screening requirements or other protocols implemented by the University to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 on campus.
Further details are available via the Student Health Services Immunizations website. Please read the submission guidelines carefully.
You will receive a secure message from the Student Health Portal to confirm your form has been processed and/or to request additional information. It is important for you to respond to any requests for additional information over the summer.
If, after you visit the Immunizations website, you have additional questions about how to submit your COVID-19 Vaccine Form, email Student Health Services at email@example.com or call (908) 737-4880.
Kean University is committed to helping you stay on track toward graduation as we return to a fully operational campus in September.
If you have already registered, you do not need to take any further steps to finalize your course schedule at this point.
If you have not already registered for the Fall, here are two options:
If you are currently vaccinated or plan to become vaccinated by August 1, or if you are filing for an exemption from vaccination, you should meet with your academic advisor if you haven’t already done so and register for your courses as you normally would. This option is strongly encouraged by the University. All full-time Kean students who register for in-person classes before June 30 will receive $250 in Kean Flex Dollars (KFD) and the chance to win great prizes as part of the University’s Early Registration Incentive program. Please visit the Early Registration Incentive website to learn more.
If you choose to remain unvaccinated, you should consider registering as a Kean Online student. Kean Online students do not need to be vaccinated unless they plan to come to campus for any reason.
Here’s what you need to know before you consider Kean Online.
Kean Online offers a limited number of undergraduate majors and graduate programs, but many general education and elective courses are available for students in all majors.
Kean Online classes are structured differently than the remote classes offered during this academic year. Courses offer asynchronous instruction, meaning they don’t meet at set times each week so students complete assignments independently on their own schedules.
If you choose to become a Kean Online student because you plan to remain unvaccinated, you must complete your entire course schedule via Kean Online during the Fall semester. You cannot take any classes on campus if you are unvaccinated unless you have an approved exemption.
Once you begin the semester as a Kean Online student, you will not be permitted to switch back to in-person instruction for the duration of the Fall 2021 semester, even if you get vaccinated during the semester.
If you wish to switch to Kean Online for the Fall semester due to the vaccination requirement, you must fill out and submit this Fall 2021 Kean Online COVID Accommodation Request Form. An advisor will reach out to you directly to discuss your course requirements and explain the expectations and structure of Kean Online courses. The deadline to submit the form is June 11. No requests can be accommodated after the deadline.
All Kean Online students must complete a mandatory online training during the summer to learn more about the expectations unique to Kean Online courses. Details will be forthcoming.
If your request is approved, you will be cleared to register for Kean Online courses.
If you can’t reach your advisor, contact the Executive Director of your academic program. Your advisors’ contacts are listed in your Success Team within the Advise Student Experience platform accessible here. If you have not declared a major, you should contact your Center for Advising, Persistence and Success advisor for registration assistance.
If you have other questions about registration, contact the One Stop Service Center at firstname.lastname@example.org.
