Welcome Dr. Laura Baecher, Associate Provost for Faculty Development

Laura Baecher

Following a comprehensive national search, the Provost’s Office is pleased to announce that Dr. Laura Baecher, Ed.D. will serve as Associate Provost for Faculty Development at Kean University, effective October 16, 2023. An accomplished scholar and winner of multiple grants and awards for teaching, scholarship and leadership, Baecher brings 30 years of urban education experience and a passion for and extended engagement in faculty development. Dr. Laura Baecher has been Professor of Education at Hunter College, City University of New York (CUNY) where she was the Provost’s Senior Faculty Fellow in the Academic Center for Excellence in Research and Teaching.  She comes to Kean most recently as CUNY Assistant Dean for Academic Pedagogy and Technology in the Office of Faculty Affairs, serving faculty at CUNY’s 25 campuses. She has worked with faculty development in public universities in the United States as well as internationally as a US State Department and Fulbright Specialist in the Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Brazil, Japan, Cyprus, Thailand, Albania, Ukraine and Bahrain.  She is committed to supporting, recognizing and advancing Kean’s outstanding faculty in the areas of productivity, instruction, leadership and well-being in ways that build community and sustain collaboration and reflection.

Kean is a diverse and inclusive community dedicated to promoting faculty, staff and student wellness. Faculty can enjoy Kean's fitness centers and recreational facilities at no charge.

The Wellbeing at Work initiative is designed to encourage faculty to get moving. Explore Kean's many theaters, galleries and outdoor spaces. Free counseling services provide additional support.
