The Common Read
An Overview
In Fall 2021, first-year students enrolled in Transition to Kean (GE1000) and sections of the First-Year Seminar (ID1500) will engage with the Common Read text, The Poet X by Elizabeth Acevedo. The purpose of the Common Read is to bring students together around a given text to discuss relevant and timely topics, to promote interdisciplinary discourse, and to create a shared intellectual experience for students in their first semester at Kean.
