Research Interests

Dr. Shen's research focuses on understanding the impact of child maltreatment on marginalized communities, as well as identifying mediating and moderating factors that can prevent survivors from the negative effects of child maltreatment experiences. 

Biography

Dr. Shen is an Assistant Professor at School of Psychology of Kean University. She received her Ph.D. in Marriage and Family Therapy program from Texas Tech University in 2018. After completing her pre-doctoral and postdoctoral training as a visiting faculty at University of Oregon, she worked as a clinical therapist and adjunct faculty at Syracuse University. Dr. Shen has actively published in peer-reviewed journals and presented at numerous national and international conferences. Dr. Shen is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapy and has a deep passion for clinical training and practice. Her clinical work is rooted in Attachment Theory, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
